Colorado State Specific Science Safety Compliance
Science labs answer to thousands of rules, and most of them apply in every state. This free module covers only the Colorado science lab safety rules and requirements: the ones Coloradons need to pay attention to, each tied to the exact Colorado law or rule that sets it. It is the home of the Colorado State Specific Science Safety Compliance Requirements Sheet and teaches the sheet rule by rule.
What a learner will be able to do
- Say which Colorado rules cover public, charter and private schools, and why federal OSHA does not reach public school staff
- Apply Colorado’s eye protection law and rule to a lab or shop, observers included
- Buy, count, document, store and dispose of school chemicals under Colorado’s Board of Health rule
- Check a lab’s eyewashes, showers, gas shut-off and fume hoods against Colorado’s rule
- Prepare for a state health inspection and correct its findings on time
- Apply Colorado’s fire code and yearly fire inspections to a school, and check an organization against the sheet
Nine lessons following the sheet’s six numbered rules, four pairs of Colorado scenarios, a task that checks a real organization against the sheet, a 10-question quiz and the Science Safety Certificate.
