New York State Specific Science Safety Compliance
Science labs answer to thousands of rules, and most of them apply in every state. This free module covers only the New York science lab safety rules and requirements: the ones New Yorkers need to pay attention to, each tied to the exact New York law or regulation that sets it. It is the home of the New York State Specific Science Safety Compliance Requirements Sheet and teaches the sheet rule by rule.
What a learner will be able to do
- Say which New York rules cover public employees, private employers and students
- Explain what happens after a PESH inspection, and when a fine can start
- Plan New York Right-to-Know training that meets its timing, content and record rules
- Meet New York’s rules for locked chemical storage, the yearly inventory, mercury and hazardous waste
- Decide who must wear eye protection in a New York lab
- Apply New York’s rules on the fire code, dissection, lasers and new lab construction, and check an organization against the sheet
Nine lessons following the sheet’s nine numbered rules, four pairs of New York scenarios, a task that checks a real organization against the sheet, a 10-question quiz and the Science Safety Certificate.
