North Carolina State Specific Science Safety Compliance
Science labs answer to thousands of rules, and most of them apply in every state. This free module covers only the North Carolina science lab safety rules and requirements: the ones North Carolinians need to pay attention to, each tied to the exact North Carolina law, rule or State Board policy that sets it. It is the home of the North Carolina State Specific Science Safety Compliance Requirements Sheet and teaches the sheet rule by rule.
What a learner will be able to do
- Say which North Carolina rules cover public and private schools, and who covers their staff
- Apply North Carolina’s eye protection law to a lab, shop or kiln room, visitors included
- Explain the yearly lab certification, the Chemical Hygiene Plan the State Board requires, the mercury ban and the review of new lab plans
- Say how the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina and the Right to Know Act reach a school lab
- Schedule the fire drills, inspections and the lockdown drill, and name the codes a school building follows
- Check an organization against the sheet’s yearly checklist
Nine lessons following the sheet’s five numbered rules, four pairs of North Carolina scenarios, a task that checks a real organization against the sheet, a 10-question quiz and the Science Safety Certificate.
