Hang this poster beside your table saw, so the rules are in front of whoever is about to make a cut.
What is on the poster
Every cut
- Guard, spreader and anti-kickback fingers in place. OSHA requires them on table saws (29 CFR 1910.213(c)).
- Blade about 1/8 inch above the stock. Set the blade no more than about 1/8 inch (3 mm) above the piece being cut.
- Use a push stick for narrow or short stock. When the fence is under about 6 inches from the blade, the piece is under 12 inches long, or for the last 12 inches of a longer piece.
- Stand to the side of the blade. Keep your body and face out of the line of a possible kickback.
- Never cut freehand. Always hold the stock against the rip fence or the miter gauge.
- Unplug or lock out before any adjustment. Turn off the power and unplug or lock out the saw before changing the blade or doing any work on it.
Never reach over or around a spinning blade.
