This course prepares you for the Fire Department of the City of New York’s C-14 Certificate of Fitness, Supervising Non-Production Chemical Laboratories: the certificate the Fire Code requires of the person supervising a laboratory that keeps more than 1 gallon of flammable liquid, 1 gallon of combustible liquid or 75 standard cubic feet of flammable gas.
Who needs it: supervisors, researchers and laboratory managers in college, university, hospital, research and commercial laboratories; instructors in laboratories teaching beyond the twelfth grade; teachers in private and independent schools; and New York City public school science staff who do not qualify for the D-14 or D-15.
How it is issued: by FDNY’s computer-based examination, or without one through the Alternative Issuance Procedure for applicants holding the listed degrees, licenses or teaching certification. Either way, the employer’s recommendation letter must state that the applicant has been trained on the laboratory’s emergency plan and on the storage, handling and use of its hazardous materials.
This module is recognized by FDNY and NYCDOE.
