Illinois State Specific Science Safety Compliance
Science labs answer to thousands of rules, and most of them apply in every state. This free module covers only the Illinois science lab safety rules and requirements: the ones Illinoisns need to pay attention to, each tied to the exact Illinois law or rule that sets it. It is the home of the Illinois State Specific Science Safety Compliance Requirements Sheet and teaches the sheet rule by rule.
What a learner will be able to do
- Say which Illinois rules cover public and private schools, and who covers their staff
- Apply Illinois’s eye protection law to a lab or shop, observers and visitors included
- Handle a student’s refusal to dissect, and buy art supplies the way Illinois allows
- Register and run a Class 3b or Class 4 laser under Illinois’s rules, and report an injury on time
- Prepare a public school for its yearly inspections and its ten-year survey
- Run the safety drills Illinois requires, and check an organization against the sheet
Nine lessons following the sheet’s seven numbered rules, four pairs of Illinois scenarios, a task that checks a real organization against the sheet, a 10-question quiz and the Science Safety Certificate.
