Texas State Specific Science Safety Compliance
Science labs answer to thousands of rules, and most of them apply in every state. This free module covers only the Texas science lab safety rules and requirements: the ones Texans need to pay attention to, each tied to the exact Texas law or regulation that sets it. It is the home of the Texas State Specific Science Safety Compliance Requirements Sheet and teaches the sheet rule by rule.
What a learner will be able to do
- Say which Texas rules cover public schools, private schools and students
- Apply the Texas Hazard Communication Act to a school lab, including its lab exemption
- Plan Texas right-to-know training that meets its timing and record rules
- Keep the workplace chemical list, labels, notice and reports the Act requires
- Apply Texas’s rules on eye protection, lasers, hazardous waste and the fire code
- Apply Texas’s rules on opting out of a lesson and on new labs, and check an organization against the sheet
Nine lessons following the sheet’s nine numbered rules, four pairs of Texas scenarios, a task that checks a real organization against the sheet, a 10-question quiz and the Science Safety Certificate.
